Embracing an 8,000-year old tradition
Enjoy wine the Georgian way
Georgian wine
In a country that measures their existence by centuries, Georgian culture is pillared by the traditions practiced for thousands of years. The country of Georgia, located in the Caucasus Mountains, is known as the birthplace of wine dating wine-making back eight thousand years. Georgians devoutly adore their creation by rooting it in every part of their life. Georgian wine is uniquely made in clay pots, called Qveris, and enjoyed during gatherings, called Supras, with conversations being led by the wisest person at the table - the Tamada. Being a Tamada is a respected role and is a key player in how the experience of wine is embraced throughout Georgian history. Today in modern America, those traditions are being shared with us by one family business.
Applying design-thinking to introduce their traditions
While the business is seeing strong improvement in their sales and revenue, it is important to them to share their traditions with their customers to enjoy their wine as they would back home.
Using investigation, research, and design, I partnered with the family business to understand their market, goals, and audience. Then, leveraged design-thinking to develop an interactive solution for their audience to learn about their history, and traditions for them to embrace at their next occasion.
